The Medical Travel CommissionTM
The Medical Travel CommissionTM certifies hospitals that support Medical Travel initiatives. The MTC has created a review process leading to certification that includes support of Best Practices to increase credibility in the Medical Travel industry through transparent and unbiased standards. All rating criteria are directly traceable to patient care and support. The MTC was founded out of a need for a neutral entity to bring credibility and transparency across borders, cultures, and special interests to the Medical Travel industry and advocate for patient safety and support.
The Certification process brings credibility to countries that promote national Medical Travel initiatives, improves the care and services delivered by hospitals, and assists in the constant improvement in the experience and outcomes for International Patients. The Certification guidelines were developed by an inter-disciplinary team of experts with backgrounds in hospital administration, Quality Measures, clinical records, certification protocols, and medical ethics. The initial phase of the certification process involves an informational stage in which the hospital is educated on the Medical Travel Commission’s review criteria.
Hospitals that participate in the MTC Certification program have shown their commitment to International Patients. The Medical Travel Commission’s Certification provides patients with the knowledge that those hospitals have voluntarily submitted to be reviewed and monitored with a comprehensive set of criterion created and monitored by an external organization. A hospital’s ongoing compliance to Certification demonstrates a commitment to continual improvements. Based on feedback provided during the process from the Medical Travel CommissionTM, hospital management can modify or initiate new programs to achieve levels of certification beyond the core certification.
Jim Tate, President and Founder of the Medical Travel CommissionTM, has a 30 year history in health care delivery in both Inpatient and Ambulatory environments. He has worked directly with over 135 Health Information Technology organizations on their projects and has led numerous health care system implementations in the United States and Asia. Jim has worked across borders, languages, and cultures with health care clients in the US, India, Pakistan, China, Ireland, Scotland, Israel, South Korea, and Peru.
The MTC Advisory Board includes physicians, Certification and Quality Measure experts, and consultants to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services for the development of Best Practices. Our principals reflect credibility, expertise, and long standing careers in international relations, health care delivery, Quality Measures, clinical administration, patient advocacy, and electronic health records.
