DEIK/ Health Tourism Business Council

The Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) was established as the "Turkish private sector's gateway to international arena" in 1988 for the specific purpose of establishing, promoting, and strengthening the Turkish private sector's economic relationships with international businesses and organizations.

As part of its sector-oriented strategy, DEIK established the Health Tourism Business Council in 2010 under the leadership of the Association of Turkish Accredited Hospitals and in partnership with Turkish Travel Agencies, Turkish Airlines, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and a group of domestic and international institutions.

The primary purpose of the Council is to enable the highly-developed Turkish health sector to achieve its well-deserved place in the international arena, and contribute to the global value chain with its high value-added services. Accordingly, the Council is working towards making Turkey a center of attraction through presentation of Turkey’s strengths in the field of health sector to target markets, organization of national and international events, facilitation of production of the necessary information, strategic guidance to public decision makers and market players and drawing know-how, investment and finance to Turkey.

Medfluent was established in 2010 in Houston Texas and is a division of “Patient Flow Systems Inc.”. Medfluent is a business strategy and process improvement firm that operates “in the cloud” to provide a software-based patient flow solution to healthcare facilities. Cosmas Health was established to fill the following critical gaps in service:

Post-Operative Care Solutions:
• When participating JCI-accredited hospitals add Cosmas Health services to their surgical packages, we will connect their patients with a U.S. trained, board certified practicing surgeon in good standing who will deliver optimal post-operative care near the patient’s home.
Quality Assurance Reporting:
• Cosmas Health will capture and report outcomes data, recorded consistently and in compliance with AMA guidelines.
Our post-operative care package includes:
• Board Certified, United States trained and practicing Surgeons to provide a postoperative clinic visit.
• The follow-up appointment will be within reasonable driving distance to the patient's home or preferred follow-up location.
• The Surgical follow-up appointment will be scheduled prior to the departure of the patient for their surgical procedure.
• The patient will receive an office visit by the appropriate surgical subspecialty surgeon.
• The office visit charge will be prepaid*.
• We will provide contact information to the patient as well as directions to the Surgeon's office.
• We will assist the hospital in ensuring the patient leaves with the appropriate medical records required for the post-operative appointment.
• We will identify and provide a list of procedure-appropriate Physical Therapists and/or Occupational Therapists.
• We will provide QUALITY post procedure data concerning the follow-up of the Medical Tourism patient. The outcomes of the Surgery and the satisfaction of the patients will be monitored and reported back to the participating hospital.

Dr. Kalin is presently the Executive Director of the International Board of Medicine and Surgery (IBMS), an accrediting organization seeking the finest healthcare providers in the world whose certification mark has recently been approved by the U S Patent and Trademark Office.

Dr. Kalin is certified in Family Practice by the Board of Certification in Family Practice of the American Board of Physician Specialists, and has served on both the Academy of Family Practice and Board of Certification.

Dr. Kalin is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians, is a certified Independent Medical Examiner of the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners, and was Board Qualified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Kalin is presently a member of the Pinellas County Medical Society, Florida Medical Association, and is on the Board of Advisors of the Medical Tourism Association.

Dr. Kalin also works as the Medical Director of 5 injury/accident clinics in Florida where he evaluates and treats patients with medical legal issues, and has a private medical practice specializing in Age Management and Optimal Wellness.

Moreover, Dr. Kalin, who has a Masters in Public Health, supervises over 100 tattoo and cosmetic tattoo (permanent makeup) artists in the State of Florida.

Dr. Kalin is licensed in Florida as well as North Carolina where he frequently works as a camp physician during part of the summer.

Dr. Kalin was been locally involved in his community as the President of B’nai B’rith, developed the long running television program “B’nai Brith Presents Jewish Life in Tampa Bay”, has written 2 books, one on health with illustrations entitled What’s Up, Doc?, the other poetry with drawings entitled A Moment’s Song Is All I Sing, and is currently the principal designer in the reconstruction of a local synagogue.

Dr. Kalin is a Mohel, Certified by the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Rabbinical Assembly.

Dr. Kalin, who speaks fluent Spanish and partial Hebrew, graduated from Northwestern University in biology, was a James Scholar at the University of Illinois School of Medicine, and attended the University of Illinois School of Public Health where he received a Masters in the Science of Public Health.

Dr. Kalin did postgraduate preceptorships in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Psoriasis, studied Alternative Health Care Systems, researched Decision Analysis in Treatment of Systemic Lupus Erythematous, did an internship at Illinois Masonic Medical Center and a Fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Hadassah Hospital, Jerusalem, Israel.
